In response to media’s query on the status of US warships navigating freely at waters around the nation, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) confirms today (22nd) that two US warships have sailed through Taiwan Strait today from the waters near Erluanbi towards the north.
The MND indicated that this is part of US warships’ routine operation to sail through international waters at Taiwan Strait. More details will be given by the US government.
The MND stresses that the armed forces followed protocols to watch closely on US warships that passed through the waters around the nation and are prepared with counter-measures. The MND also wishes to assure the public that the armed forces are fully capable of keeping the borders at sea and in air secure, as well as maintaining regional peace and stability.
